Isaiah -- and boy band Take That! -- are the inspiration for QP's latest vision theme, explains senior minister Iain Macaulay.
Rise and shine! Just in case you haven’t noticed the magnificent letters in the Camphill sanctuary, Shine is our 2018/19 vision theme.
Inspired by Isaiah 60:1 -- “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you" -- it’s a simple invitation for every one of us to “shine” as we contribute our God-given gifts, abilities, experience and energy to the life of QPBC this year.
That means focusing on mobilising volunteers, building teams, and listening to God through one another as well as celebrating the amazing service so many people give to the church.
It means cheering one another on to represent Jesus in our families, neighbourhoods and workplaces.
It means creating space and seeking to support new leaders and young people as they break through into responsibilities and create new opportunities.
It means building on the opportunity our amazing project The Point will offer us when we launch in 2019.
Perhaps above all, it means spotting the places where God's light and life is touching each one of us and encouraging one another to reflect His glory in all we do.
In the words of that famous theological boy band Take That:
So come on, oh come on, get it on,
Don't know what you're waiting for,
Your time is coming, don't be late, hey hey,
So come on,
See the light on your face,
Let it shine,
Just let it shine,
Let it shine
