Sir David Attenborough recently called this the "biggest threat to our plant in thousands of years". Slowly we are reducing, reusing and recycling, and as we become aware of the dangers of plastics in our oceans, and carbon in the atmosphere, we are seeking greener energies and more sustainable lifestyles.
So what might a Christian response be to the crisis?
Do we have anything to say about caring for our Father's creation? Is there any place for the physical environment in our evangelistic objectives? What place has the creation in our worship, discipleship and mission?

Environmentalist and theologian, social activist and author, Dr Ruth Valerio is the Director of Global Advocacy and Influencing at Tearfund. She was previously Churches and Theology Director at A Rocha UK, during which time she launched the Eco Church scheme. An in-demand speaker, she is the author of Just Living: Faith and community in an age of consumerism (Hodder: 2016) and L is for Lifestyle: Christian living that doesn't cost the earth (IVP, 2019). She lives with her family in the south of England and has a wealth of experience trying to practice what she preaches.
